Why go to Confession?
"Sin is before all else an offense against God, a rupture of communion with him. At the same time it damages communion with the Church. For this reason conversion entails both God’s forgiveness and reconciliation with the Church, which are expressed and accomplished liturgically by the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation."

(Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1440)

At Holy Family, the Sacrament of Confession is offered in English and Spanish:

  • Tuesdays from 5:15-6:15pm
  • Wednesdays from 5:15-6:30pm
  • by appointment in the parish office
  • during our Advent and Lent Penance Services

NEED HELP PREPARING FOR CONFESSION?

Sometimes it's hard to know how to prepare for a good confession. The following Examination of Conscience can help by offering questions to think about and a description of how to go to Confession -- it even has the Act of Contrition in it! Above all, don't be afraid; Jesus is waiting for you in the person of the priest, to help you return to God!

Catholics for centuries have found it profitable to examine their consciences in light of the Ten Commandments. Penitents are encouraged to expand on them in their prayerful review of their conduct.

Uncovering ways you have failed to love God and each other is a great way for teens to examine their consciences.

Jesus loves you! He doesn’t want anything to come between you and Him … so He gives us the Sacrament of Confession to forgive our sins and to help make us stronger in our life of faith.

Después de hacer un bueno examen de consciencia, debemos confesarnos.
